How to Post Logs

So you had a great scene, and you want to post it to the Wiki. We want to have as many scenes logged and posted as possible, so that's fantastic! You might be asking yourself, now what? The following directions assume your log is going to go under one of the 'general RP' tabs by date. If you think your log belongs somewhere else, let Miss Scarlet know.

1. Make sure the log is edited for posting. That means it doesn't contain OOC, pages, or channel chatter.

2. You need to create a new page to post your log to, but what should it be named? We're posting all logs in the format of <MMDDYY-#> so you need to see which # your log will be.

 • Go to the Logs page, and at the very bottom on the right, click 'Edit'. Now you need to be a little careful, because you're editing the Logs page and it can be complicated. If you need help, please ask on game and someone will lend a hand!
 • Scroll down to the bottom, as the logs are in chronological order, and see if there are any other logs from that day. If so, yours will be the next # in line. If not, yours will be MMDDYY-1.
 • Add the appropriate information for your log and hit 'Save'.
 • Once you have that figured out you should be able to copy the format of the surrounding logs, but just in case, it should look like this:
So, [Some Made Up Log]

3. Find where you just added your link. It should be grey since the page isn’t there yet. Click on it. It will tell you that the page doesn't exist yet, so click the "create page" link.

4. Now you just need to copy and paste your log into the content box.

5. Formatting! Make sure to give your log some fun, unique title and make that the "Title of the page". (You should have already done this when adding it to the main list.) Most people leave in room descriptions at the beginning of the log, and we generally format that so it stands out from poses. This isn't necessary, but if you'd like to do it, most folks favor this format:

//**Room Name**// (//=italics **=bold)
//Room Desc//
------ (this makes a nice line break)

We also like to make a link to each character's page the first time they appear in the scene. Again not required, but if you would like to do that, it looks like this:

[player:Name] So, for instance:
It was a pretty day and [player:August was walking down the beach.

6. Beneath the input box there's an option to Preview or Save. I recommend starting with Preview to see how it looks, and when you are finished, click Save. This will show you your finished page.

7. Last step, promise! At the bottom of this finished page, on the right, are some options. One is 'tags'. Click that, and add 'logs'.

That's it! If you have questions or suggestions for this page, please contact August.
